EDMONTON, June 23 /CNW/ – Empire Industries Ltd. (TSX-V: EIL) (“Empire” or the “Company”), a provider of steel fabrication and installation services and specialized engineered products, today announced that one of its wholly-owned subsidiaries has secured a unit priced subcontract, expected to be worth in excess of$12 million, for a structural steel modularization project for Suncor’s Voyageur expansion program near Fort McMurray, Alberta.
The scope of the subcontract, which was awarded by Ideal Welders Ltd. (“IWL”), calls for the assembly of 179 modules, totaling over 5,000 tonnes of structural steel at IWL’s module yard outsideEdmonton. The work will be undertaken over a period of approximately 15 months starting in October 2008. IWL has the main contract with Suncor for pipe fabrication, installation and modularization.
